TipsPro Tips & Tricks

⚡ Speed Boost: Trim Your Sails!

Every 60 seconds while sailing, you'll see a wind icon appear. Click your sails immediately for a 12-second speed boost and 150-300 XP. This adds up to 10-15k passive XP per hour just from sailing around!

💰 Save Your GP: Don't Overbuy Materials

Port Tasks reward you with planks, nails, and bars. Only buy what you absolutely need for immediate upgrades - you'll get most materials naturally through tasks.

Efficient Training Combos

  • Levels 15-30: Mix Port Tasks with Sea Charting. Port Tasks for consistent XP, charting for exploration bonuses.
  • Levels 30-55: Tempor Tantrum when focused, Salvaging when AFK. Switch methods based on your attention level.
  • Levels 55-72: Jubbly Jive as main method. Build Wind Catcher after first Shark completion for speed boost.
  • Levels 72-99: Gwenith Glide Marlin runs. Build Crystal Extractor immediately at 73 for +16% XP boost.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

❌ Building facilities too early

Wait until you actually need them. You'll rebuild your ship several times, and early facilities become obsolete.

❌ Ignoring crew members

Unlock Jobless Jim at 40 and assign him to salvaging hooks or cannons. Free passive XP!

❌ Skipping sea charting

One-time charting tasks give massive XP chunks. Complete them while doing Port Tasks for free bonus XP.

❌ Wrong Crystal Extractor placement

CRITICAL: Place it directly in front of helm (Sloop) or beside helm (Skiff). Wrong placement makes it useless! → See detailed placement guide

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take to get 99 Sailing?

With optimal methods: ~120-150 hours. Breakdown: 1-30 (~5hrs), 30-55 (~15hrs), 55-72 (~25hrs), 72-99 (~75-105hrs at Gwenith Glide)

Q: What's the best AFK method for Sailing?

Shipwreck Salvaging offers 2-5 minutes of AFK time. At 73+, you get 60k+ XP/hr while watching Netflix. Build a Salvaging Station to avoid bank trips. → Full Salvaging Guide

Q: Is Sailing profitable or does it cost money?

Sailing is slightly profitable overall. Port Tasks give valuable rewards, and salvaging can net 500k-1M GP from 15-99. Initial ship upgrades cost ~500k total.

Q: Can I do Sailing on a fresh account?

Yes! Pandemonium has no requirements. However, some later quests need other skills (e.g., Troubled Tortugans needs 51 Slayer). You can still train Sailing to high levels without quests.

Q: Should I do Barracuda Trials even if I don't make the time?

Absolutely! Even unranked completions give good XP. Focus on collecting all supplies first, speed comes with practice. Many players get 80k+ XP/hr at Jubbly Jive without achieving Marlin time.

Q: What's the difference between Sloop and Skiff?

Sloop (50+) is larger (3×10 vs 2×5), has 11 vs 7 facility slots, and allows 5 crew vs 2. It's essential for endgame efficiency but Skiff works fine until 50.

Q: Do I need to complete Song of the Elves for Gwenith Glide?

Yes. Gwenith Glide is in Prifddinas, requiring Song of the Elves completion. Alternative 72-99 methods include high-level salvaging or Bounty Tasks (slower but still viable).

Q: Can I train Sailing with friends?

Yes! Sloops support up to 5 players. Friends can operate facilities like cannons and salvaging hooks while you helm. Great for Ship Combat and social training.
